Rutledge Calls for Stimulus Plan Audit
On November 19th, Jim called on Ms. Mikulski and her Democratic colleagues in our US Senate to initiate immediately a comprehensive and independent audit of the trillion-dollar 'stimulus' program created and passed earlier this year by Congressional Democrats.
The Obama administration's own report on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act revealed a disturbing abuse of taxpayer dollars. The amount spent to allegedly save or create each job is shocking. Consider the facts:
- US Wide -- 640,329 jobs / $159B = $248,000 per job
- MD - 6,748 jobs / $3.1M = $470,000 per job
More than half of the jobs claimed were in the government sector despite earlier promises that 90% of the positions would be in the private job market, where this year alone millions of Americans have lost their paychecks and livelihoods. It's reckless and irresponsible and proves the federal government has absolutely no business in the job creation business. This program is an abuse of the public trust and should not stand.
